Nothing like a freebie

It's no secret, I love Queensland.
Truth be told, it took years of travelling and even living overseas to really appreciate my own state and my own country.
There are loads of places I would love to travel to and even live for a year, a couple at most. But Queensland will always be home.
One of the things I love the most, is that there is so much of the Sunshine State (okay, well usually it's Sunshiney, not too much lately), that everyone can access for free.
Here are a few of my favourite things:

The jetty at Sandgate/Shorncliffe. There's also a fab Robinson Crusoe-type playground for kids.

Brisbane/Ipswich councils regularly put on free events for residents. Miss 7 had her face painted for free (yes, she's a pussycat) at the opening of a motorway earlier this year. Actually most Queensland councils hosts free events throughout the year. They're usually well advertised. In this case, we received an invitation in our letterbox.

Mr 9 inhaled some free fairy floss...
And they climbed to the hearts' content ...

The Ipswich Handmade Expo, held each month. Loads of lovingly made goodies to eat, drink, wear, display and/or just enjoy. Entry and parking are free and prices are reasonable.

The childrens' gallery at the Ipswich Art Gallery is Australia's first to be dedicated to children. It's hands-on, fun, and even better free!

What have you found to enjoy that's free in Queensland - or in your own part of the world?

Love going to South Bank in Brisbane, the only thing the Brisbane Government & Council did right was turn that into big park lands for the people.

You can have a BBQ, there swim there (man made beach & lagoon) walk along beside the water, heaps of places to eat & have a drink parks for the kids to play in all just across the river from the CBD

(((( Hugs ))))

Hi, stopping by via Flog Yo Blog.

As a Queensland girl at heart, I've enjoyed reading your posts. I was born and raised in Brissie but a lot of family originally comes from out Wondai and Nanango way and Daddy BuBbles was actually born at Wondai Hospital. Haven't visited the area for a few years though so it would definitely be interesting to see how it's changed with all the wineries and cheese shops etc.

we are queenslanders too and have been exploring as much of it as we can - we like the daisy hill koala center near us and have been exploring playgrounds around the place. I love to go to the markets at South Bank and to take the kids swimming there too! great blog :)

Thanks so much for visiting my blog, so I could find my way back to you. I couldn't believe it when I returned the visit and the first thing I see is the Sandgate Jetty. When I was a kid (growing up in Nudgee) there was a sort of pavilion at the end of it with rows of machines that you put a penny into and looked at little movie clips. Is that the shark net I can see on the right?

I was in Brisbane earlier this year when the new tunnel opened. I was constantly getting lost because of all the roadworks, which isn't surprising as I haven't lived in Brisbane since 1966, although I visit my family nearly every year. I couldn't believe how Brisbane is booming. Love my home town still!

First of all I want to say superb blog! I had a quick question that
I'd like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your mind before writing. I have had a hard time clearing my mind in getting my ideas out there. I truly do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or hints? Kudos!
